Following her graduation from the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Hong
Kong, Nergish rose through the ranks from stylist to a Director
of the market-leading salon (later bought by Andre Norman Ltd)
by the age of 19. She also qualified as a Beauty Therapist via
the renowned French Institute of Beauty-Elysee.
In 1988, she moved to London and was appointed General Manager
of all Hairdressing Concessions within Harrods, managing the largest
Hair & Beauty salon in the world, with over 130 team members.
Her emphasis on improving Quality, Marketing Strategies and Customer
Service resulted in a dramatic increase in revenue streams.
Following her marriage, she settled in Canada, where she worked
as the Retail Area Manager at Holt Renfrew, Canada’s leading
designer Department Store Group.
She returned to the UK in 1994 and was appointed as the Regional
Manager of 24 of London’s prestige West End Department Store
Hair & Beauty accounts, including Selfridges, Harvey Nichols,
Simpsons, Fenwick, Dickins and Jones, Debenhams, House of Fraser,
Top Shop, Bentalls and Allders, amongst others. By re-deploying
all available resources, updating stock control systems and reducing
payroll costs, she achieved material improvements in the bottom
line.
Nergish has now chosen to package her considerable world-wide
knowledge and experience into management training programmes and
services such as advising on ‘Investor in People’
awards within the Hair, Beauty, Service and Retail Industries
through her specialist firm, Jopirza Consultants.
Through Jopirza Consultants, Nergish provides Management Training
Seminars to L’Oreal’s Prestige Account Customers such
as Toni and Guy, Charles Worthington, Nicky Clarke, Charlie Millar,
Trevor Sorbie, Daniel Hersheson, Saks, etc.
She has also been asked to speak at the Fellowship of British
Hairdressing Events and has been appointed by several UK Colleges
to offer Career Advice to the graduating Hair and Beauty students.
In addition she has become a regular contributor to leading trade
publications such as Hairdressers Journal, Health & Beauty
and Salon Business. In 2003 and 2004 Nergish was asked to join
a panel of respected industry experts who were set the enormous
task of judging the British Hairdressing Business Awards.
In 1999 Nergish, together with her business partner Fiona Russell
launched Austin Russell Recruitment. In 2001 Nergish sold her
share of the partnership in Austin Russell Recruitment to Fiona
Russell.
Most recently, Nergish has joined forces with Andre Ouellette
to develop, produce and sell management training videos and DVDs
of Nergish’s training via their company Salon Standards
Ltd. The first 2 in the series are called Increasing Customer
Spend –The Stylist’s Approach and Increasing Customer
Spend- The Receptionist’s Approach. Both designed to help
